BONAIRE - A DEDICATED UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE WITH LINDA DUNK
Photography with friends, winter sun and warm water
Sunday 17th November - Monday 25th November 2002 (9 days) Leader: Linda Dunk Group size limit: 10 photographers plus leader
Linda first visited Bonaire fifteen years ago, and her initial impressions of this location as a photographer's dream have been confirmed by subsequent visits. For an underwater photography course to be a success, a combination of a wide range of subjects, easy diving at any time (literally) of the day and night, reliable and speedy film processing, and professional teaching facilities is a must, and all of these needs, and many more, are met by Captain Don's Habitat, the resort chosen by Linda for her 2002 photography course. The reefs on Bonaire have been protected by Marine Park status for many years, so guaranteeing that underwater photographers a really fantastic choice of fish life and invertebrates, together with magnificent forests of healthy corals. Salt Pier allows the wide-angle enthusiast plenty of scope for creativity, while Town Pier is acknowledged worldwide as a great macro and night diving location. Visibility is usually good, currents slight, and access to the water, whether the house reef at Captain Don's, or further afield using the well-organised boat diving, could not be easier.
For those wishing to fast-track their underwater photographic techniques, Linda's evening lectures will cover topics such as 'seeing the picture', wide-angle and macro techniques, and composition, and are accompanied by notes for students. As always, Linda will be on hand to review films when they come back from processing, and will be encouraging participants to 'share your shots' with the group! Leaving the formalities aside, any learning process works best in a fun atmosphere, and what better place to discuss the day's successes (or failures!) with friends and fellow enthusiasts around the bar, as the sun goes down over Klein Bonaire, with a rum punch to hand!
